"There is beauty in simplicity"

When it comes to makeup, less is more. I've never been the girl with a vanity overflowing with makeup and serums but instead stick prefer to the basics. This makes everything simpler in the mornings when my pillow holds more appeal than rooting around in a crowded makeup drawer looking for lost pencils.

Keep reading after the jump for my list of go-to beauty essentials.

Lets start at the base shall we? Clear skin will have you wanting to show it off rather than covering it up with foundation. I use good ol coconut oil for makeup remover, St Ives for when my face needs a scrub and Manuka Oil as a night cream. Nothing fancy, nothing pricy.. in fact all three can usually be found among grocery store aisles.. the Whole Foods ones at least.

You'll find no heavy foundations on my vanity but instead a Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer to keep my dry skin quenched in the winter. I use Smashbox primer before hand for an even coverage. Then Marc Jacobs concealer for any needed additional coverage. The container peeking in the bottom of the photo is Clinique powder, my longest used beauty item.

Moving onto the eyes, Urban Decay is my go to for day to day looks. This primer is an essential for me as it keeps my eye shadow in place all day. The popular Naked palettes are perfectly complemented by the companies introduction of the Naked Basics. All the colours are practical with none left unused in the corner.

I finish off my eye game with L'oreal infallible lacquer eyeliner and a small eyeliner brush and then Too Faced's Better Than Sex mascara. If I want a smokier look, I line the inner lash line with Smashbox.

What are you makeup go-tos?
